In this American comedy series, we follow the colorful staff of police officers at a police station in New York. The series first aired on Fox for a few years, and has since switched networks to NBC. It is a comedy of the traditional type with episode-based stories.
Brooklyn Nine-Nine does not aim at realism or any deeper meaning. It is an easy-to-understand series with superficial humor and some reference humor. Reference humor is not really humor in my opinion, but just a move that makes people feel good if they recognize the reference.
Despite the use of reference humor, this is an entertaining and fun series, which has a lot more to it as well. I do not like very much when the series tries too hard with jokes that are not funny, but I appreciated the characters and established history and behavior. After many years, this is what makes the series still worth watching.
